How We Started:

Chris has spent his career as a storyteller using video and film as his medium. After graduating from the University of Maryland in 1984 with a degree in Radio, Television and Film, he took a job with a small production company in Northern Virginia. He left after a few years of cutting his teeth in field production and took a job as an editor with a fledgling cable network called The Discovery Channel. In 1988, he decided to go out on his own as a freelance cameraman and editor and started CAS Video Productions.

One of his first clients was The American Red Cross, a relationship that continues to this day. He spent the next 20 years shooting, editing, and field producing numerous training, marketing and documentary videos. If you’ve ever taken a CPR, Lifeguarding or EMT training course, you’ve probably seen his work. He has covered and produced compelling stories from many of the major disaster’s that hit the US including Hurricane Andrew, the Oakland Hills fires, the Oklahoma City bombing, the St Louis floods, the 911 attack, and hurricane Katrina.

In 1998 he was hired as Director of Photography for a new series called “Restore America with Bob Villa” which aired on HGTV. That began a 17 year relationship with Scripps Networks that is still ongoing. Since then he has been a Director of Photography, Cameraman or Editor on many television series including White House Christmas-HGTV, Curvy Brides-TLC, Breaking Point-Investigative Discovery, Thicker Than Water-Bravo, Game Changers-CBS, I Want That-DIY Network, Sons of Houdini-Reelz TV, Tanked-Animal Planet, Second Act-RLTV, Bikinis & Boardwalks-Travel Channel, just to name a few.
